Hengtong, in collaboration with China Unicom, has successfully deployed and begun operating China Unicom's first commercial hollow-core fiber optic cable line.

This hollow-core fiber cable is now serving a dedicated line for a bank branch in Jiangsu, where it has been integrated into the live network. To verify stable operation, two test services were configured and monitored, confirming the fiber's compatibility and reliability under real-world commercial conditions.

For this application, Hengtong provided a hybrid cable configuration comprising “46-core G.652 fibers + 2-core hollow-core fibers”. This design supports compatibility with current networks while utilizing hollow-core fiber to enhance transmission performance—a balance of present utility and future potential.

This deployment represents a meaningful step in applying hollow-core fiber technology within operational telecom infrastructure.
